Dana C. Ackley, Ph.D.

Dana Ackley earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Florida State University. For 25 years he worked with families and community leaders in his private practice. He transitioned to executive coaching and organizational consultation in the mid-1990s, using EQ as a foundation for coaching. In 2006, he authored the first comprehensive model for EQ Development (The EQ Leader Program, then published by MHS).

Dr. Ackley built his coaching/consulting business while living in a relatively small city. Yet his client list includes such major organizations as Capital One, the US Department of Agriculture, PwC (Price Waterhouse Coopers), the Chicago Police Department, Bronson Healthcare Group, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Kroger, as well as numerous smaller companies. 

Dr. Ackley conducts workshops on EQ Coaching, having lectured in such cities as London, Sydney, Brisbane, Chicago, Toronto, and Vancouver, as well as at meetings of the American Psychological Association and the Society of Psychologists in Management. In addition to two books, he is the author of Emotional Intelligence: A practical Review of Models, Measures, and Applications, Consulting Psychologists Journal: Practice and Research, 2016, Vol. 68, No. 4, 269–286. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association.
